Enter your finished deck height in the properties panel on the right side of the screen. If you want a multi-level design, click "Add Level" and draw the secondary section adjacent to the first. Each level gets its own height input, so the 3D view will render the step difference automatically once both heights are set.


Step 3. Add stairs, railings, and key features

Configure railings


Select "Add Railing" from the toolbar and click the deck edges where you want railing installed. Leave the stair-opening edge unselected so the railing breaks correctly at the step landing.


Add built-in features


Click "Features" in the toolbar to place built-in benches, planters, or pergola posts directly on the deck surface. Position each element by clicking and dragging it to the correct location, then use the dimension inputs to size it precisely. These additions render in the 3D view in real time, so rotate the model after each placement to confirm the layout looks right before moving forward.


Step 4. Pick materials, check details, and export


With your layout finalized, the timbertech deck designer moves you into the materials panel where the visual payoff happens. Open the "Decking" tab on the right side of the screen and browse through TimberTech's product collections. Click any swatch to apply it instantly across your entire deck surface, and rotate the 3D model to see how the color reads in full sun and shade.


Choose your decking and railing materials


Select your deck board color and finish first, then switch to the "Railings" tab to match or contrast your earlier railing selection. Apply materials to each component individually, including posts, balusters, and fascia boards, so nothing defaults to a placeholder color in the exported file.

Review and export your plan
